Some of the greatest percussionists in the world will gather in memory of Steve Weiss.
Weiss was the owner of one of the biggest percussion distributors in the world and a big supporter of the percussive arts.
The Third Annual Steve Weiss Mallet Fest will feature three incredible shows on August 4-6.
On Aug. 4 at 7 p.m., the Settlement Music School at 416 Queen Street in South Philly will host Lynn Vartan, Tony Miceli, Oliver Mayman, Gene Kosinski and Tim Broscius.
Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. at Chris’ Jazz Cafe at 1421 Sansom Street will feature Jason Marsalis (vibes), Justin Vibes (vibes), Tony Miceli (vibes), Behn Gillece (vibes), Christos Rafalides (vibes), Tom Lawton (piano), Lee Smith(bass) and Byron Landham (drums).
Aug. 6 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway will include Lyn Vartan (Marimba), Ivan Trevino (Marimba), Tony Miceli (vibes) and the Temple University Percussion Ensemble.
A workshop will take place July 31 through August 4 at the Settlement Music School.
