Classic country theater show

The REV Theatre Company, based in Queen Village, will be offering free performances of its Rodeo Show in various neighborhoods in South Philly through September.

As part of the Philadelphia Fringe, REV Theatre Company’s Lil’ Ol’ Rodeo Show calls itself a “throwback” with classic retro sounds/song stylings of legendary artists Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash and more, and including iconic hits like Hey Good Lookin’, Walkin’ After Midnight, Jackson, D-I-V-O-R-C-E, Act Naturally, Jambalaya, plus rope and bullwhip tricks from a lasso-twirling rodeo performer.

The 70-minute show features four performers, pounds of sequins, yards of fringe and really big hair. It was created by co-artistic director Rudy Caporaso and directed by co-artistic director Rosey Hay.

Upcoming South Philly shows include Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at FDR Park at 1500 Pattison Ave.; Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at Bardascino Park at 1000 S. 10th St.; Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at Mario Lanza Park at 214 Catharine St.; Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at Dickinson Square Park at 1600 E.
