Fancy Brigades ready for the holidays

Members of the Fancy Brigade Association announced additional details surrounding the organization’s upcoming performances at the Thanksgiving Day Parade and New Year’s Day Fancy Brigade Fest and Finale.

To kick off the holiday season, the Fancy Brigades will be performing in 6abc’s Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 23. The parade will be back on the Ben Franklin Parkway this year and broadcast on 6abc and Hulu. Members of the Fancy Brigade Association will be performing an abridged routine by the art museum steps as part of the celebration. Members will also be volunteering as balloon handlers throughout the parade.

Ahead of the New Year’s Day festivities, the Fancy Brigade Association is offering private, behind-the-scenes tours of the Mummers Parade floats at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from Dec. 28-31. Additional details can be found at FancyBrigadeAssociation.com.

Now in its 26th year, the Fancy Brigade Finale presented by the new premier title sponsor Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia will take place on Jan. 1 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The day’s events will begin with a family performance at 11 a.m., followed by a matinee at noon with four-and-a-half minute performances by each of the 12 competing Fancy Brigades. The top performance honors will occur during the day’s second show, slated for 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded based on judges’ reviews of choreography and costumes, with an overall winner and captain chosen. Fancy Brigade sponsor 6abc (WPVI-TV) will carry the finale on-air and on 6abc.com.

“The Fancy Brigade Fest and Finale presented by Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia are beloved New Year’s traditions in Philadelphia,” said Anthony Stagliano Jr., Business Agent for the Fancy Brigade Association. “Our upcoming performances will bring what that Fancy Brigade is known for: intricate costumes, colorful sets and memorable performances. We look forward to celebrating the New Year with parade viewers in the most festive way that we know how. ”
