The Chopin Project – At Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and Swiss pianist Jean-Paul Brodbeck join forces for an historic collaboration on The Chopin Project, which reinterprets the music of Fréderic Chopin for jazz quartet. The Philly-born Rosenwinkel and Brodbeck will be joined by young Swiss bassist Lukas Traxel and Spanish-born drummer Jorge Rossy at Chris’ Jazz Café on Nov. 15-16. Set times are at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $35. Dinner & Show packages (including the 3-course chef tasting menu), VIP and general admission tickets are on sale now for all shows. SPHS Award of Excellence – From noon to 3 p.m. as the Waterfall Room at 2015 S. Swanson St., the South Philadelphia High School Alumni Association will recognize the 2023 Award of Excellence recipients who have been active in the South Philly community. Tickets, $37 per person; $20 for children 12 and under. Honorees are educators John Koskinen and Rosemary Trombetta; community service member Russell Shoemaker; and executive board member Yvonne Haughton.

Big Jay Oakerson – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, beloved comedian and Philadelphia native, Big Jay Oakerson, will perform at The Event Center at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. Oakerson’s career spans two decades, starting in Philadelphia as a “comic’s comic” before rising mainstream fame in New York. GAMPSGIVING – From 4-8 p.m. at EOM, 144 Moore St., a fundraiser and raffle night. All proceeds from GAMPSGIVING will benefit Girard Academic Music Program, a public school located at 2136 Ritner St. in the Girard Estates neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Tickets include one free raffle sheet ($20 value), entertainment and “Taste of South Philly” foods. BYOB event.

Mario Lanza Museum Christmas Party – The Mario Lanza Institute will host its annual Christmas party at the Mario Lanza Museum, 1214 Reed St., from 1-4 p.m.

The event will include a lunch of pizza and other goodies, a special memorabilia donation and a video presentation commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas.

Fiber Craft Holiday Market – from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first floor of the Bok Building, 1901 S. 9th St., this market boasts all things fiber craft: yarn shops, craft supplies and kits, indie dyers and spinners (yarn and fiber), handmade items, fiber art, textile wearables, jewelry and more. With 60-plus vendors, guests can shop all their favorite fiber and textile related gifts (it’s the holiday season) and celebrate the craft of handmade goods.
