A perpetrator attempted to rob someone sitting in a car in Point Breeze last week, but the victim escaped.

A 34-year-old was in his 2006 black Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the 2200 block of Cross Street at 11:27 p.m. Oct. 17 when a man approached the passenger’s side of his vehicle, pointed a black handgun at him and said, “Give it up. You know what this is,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The targeted man escaped his auto and ran west on Cross Street and north on 23rd Street. At Dickinson Street, he dialed 911. Police located his unoccupied parked vehicle on the 2200 block of Sears Street. His car and house keys were missing.

The offender was described as black, young — possibly in his late-teens and having a black mask covering his face.
