A fight on a Newbold recreation site left a 44-year-old with a stab wound to his back Friday.

The man’s friend, whom he only knows as “Ace,” was in a fight with the perpetrator at 2:50 p.m. at DiSilvestro Playground, 1701 S. 15th St., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Upon being struck in the face, his pal fell to the ground, so the 44-year-old pushed the attacker away and tried to help his buddy up, at which point he was stabbed in the right side of his back with a knife.

The offender, who was described as black, age 50 to 60, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, fled on a bicycle in an unknown direction. Shortly after that, a medic transported the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
