Authorities busted a West Passyunk resident last week for her alleged involvement in two robberies.

Using video surveillance from a Nov. 19 incident at Dollar Tree, 2437 S. 23rd St., officers on patrol in West Passyunk arrested Tara Silva, 34, of the 2000 block of Emily Street, Nov. 20 on the 2000 block of South Opal Street, police said. They had been seeking a suspect in the Girard Estate matter through which a female used a large knife to have a worker honor her demand for money.

That occurrence came on the heels of a Nov. 18 robbery of West Passyunk’s Grace Grocery Story, 2049 S. 19th St., during which, police said, a woman produced a sizeable blade to obtain $100, cigarette cartons and a cell phone from the owner, whose mouth was duct taped.

Authorities have charged Silva, who had not posted her $100,000 bail as of press time and who awaits a Dec. 10 preliminary hearing, with robbery, aggravated assault and related offenses.
