2 dead, 3 injured in pair of South Philly shootings

A pair of shootings in South Philly on August 24 left two people dead and three others wounded.

According to police, a double shooting occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Montrose Street. Kyier Ladson, 19, of 1900 block of Carpenter Street, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the highway when officers arrived and immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m. A second victim, described as another 19-year-old male was also transported to the hospital and was listed in stable condition. 

Nearly four hours later, a triple shooting occurred on the 700 block of Daly Street, which killed 38-year-old Southwest Philly resident Charles Fickling, police said. 

According to police, the shooting occurred at 8:52 p.m. Three shooting victims, including a 31-year-old and a 28-year-old were transported to the hospital, police said. Fickling was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m. and the other two victims were in stable condition. 

Police said there have been no arrests or motive established and the homicide unit is looking into whether the two shooting incidents are related.
