Lately, Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee has been making headlines as a potential trade option in the NHL.

At the start of the 2024 offseason, there were already a lot of rumors about the 6-foot winger possibly being traded.

Now, with the season getting closer and training camp about to begin, Farabee is still with the Flyers—but that could change soon.

The Flyers have several skilled wingers lined up for top roles, including Travis Konecny, Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster, and Owen Tippett.

And with so many players competing for spots, it wouldn’t be surprising if the team considered trading Farabee for the right offer.

Undeniably, that’s why rumors about his future with the team just won’t go away.

In a recent article by Lyle Richardson for Bleacher Report, he ranked Farabee as the fourth most likely player to get traded.

Richardson also suggested that the Buffalo Sabres might be interested in picking him up since they’ve been looking for a solid top-six winger all season.

Given that Farabee is a good point-scorer and still only 24, other teams would likely be interested if the Flyers traded him.

Last season, Farabee had his best year yet, scoring 22 goals, racking up 28 assists, and reaching 50 points in 82 games.

With numbers like that, it’s clear he’s a valuable player, and his trade value is high.

But despite all the trade buzz, there are reasons the Flyers might want to hang onto him. He’s still young, and he’s showing real improvement.

If the team thinks he can keep growing, he might be more valuable sticking around. On the other hand, if they feel they can get something better in return, Farabee could be a key part of a big trade.

Beyond trade talks, Farabee is an important piece for the Flyers moving forward. In fact, he’s considered the 14th most important person in the Flyers organization heading into the 2024-25 season.

There’s a reason he was the 14th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft—he’s got real skill, and he’s been getting better each year.

Notably, his breakout 2023-24 season, where he hit the 20-goal and 50-point marks, showed that he’s just starting to tap into his potential.

Doing that at only 23 years old says a lot about where he could go from here. Naturally, the Flyers hope he can take another big step forward this season.

As the 2024-25 season approaches, Farabee will be one to watch. The Flyers are counting on him to keep improving, and some fans are even hoping he can boost his totals to 30 goals and 70 points.

With new players joining the team this season, everyone’s hoping the Flyers’ offense gets a boost, and Farabee could benefit from that, too.

While he may not be expected to lead the team in scoring, Farabee is still seen as a potential star who could be a big part of the Flyers’ success.

The team needs their young players to step up, and Farabee is close to the top of that list. If he has a breakout year, he could climb even higher in importance for the Flyers.

Ultimately, Joel Farabee’s situation is one to keep an eye on. He’s a rising star with a lot of potential, and whether the Flyers decide to keep him or trade him, it’s clear he’s a key player in their plans.

If he stays, he could become a big part of the team’s future. But if they choose to move him, it would likely take a big return to make it happen.

You could say sports and sports betting is in Dean’s DNA, as his father and older brother have worked in and around the industry. His love for sport began when he went to watch his first ever football (soccer) match aged six. From then on he has taken a keen interest in many sports, playing, watching and writing about them. Dean’s love for numbers, combined with his love for sports, has been a winning formula in helping him to create fact-based sports previews, where the readers can visibly see the logic behind them. On the odd occasion Dean takes an off day (he's a bit of a workaholic), he enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife and two young children. He also does a lot of work for charity and recently ran the London Marathon on behalf of one of them, raising plenty of money in the process.
