The Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association received a generous donation from its neighbor Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.

Live! donated $106,135 on April 20 for the installation of new field lighting at the 7th & Packer ballfields. Live! employees were joined by former Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Famer and current senior adviser Larry Bowa, who spoke to the youth players after the presentation.

The grant comes from a Community Charitable Fund established by Live! to enhance the neighborhoods surrounding their South Philadelphia property. The fund was established as part of a larger Community Benefits Agreement that underscores Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia’s long-term commitment to creating collaborative partnerships with neighboring residents and civic organizations through grants that improve the quality of life in the community, employment opportunities for residents and vendor contract opportunities for local-owned businesses.

To date, the Community Charitable Fund has donated more than $1 million in grants to local organizations and nonprofits, including a recent commitment of $750,000 toward the renovation of Murphy Recreation Center at 300 Shunk St. in South Philadelphia.
