Philly Jazz Project – at 1 p.m. at the Museum of the American Revolution, experience Philadelphia Jazz Project’s “Wait Means Never: A Musical Exploration of MLK’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” an intermingling of spoken word, singing and instrumental music paying tribute to Dr. King, one of America’s greatest citizens and thinkers. The hour-long performance will focus on King’s 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, a timeless letter that is a rumination on faith, race, community, justice, democracy and humanity. Performance is included with regular Museum admission.

Philadelphia Wings honor lacrosse’s indigenous origins – At noon inside the Penn Museum, 3260 South St., the team will tour the Native American Voices gallery and participate in a conversation with Dr. Lucy Fowler Williams, Associate Curator-in-Charge and Senior Keeper of the American Section to learn more about the indigenous team sport of stickball, how it influenced modern lacrosse and how both sports continue to hold great importance for Native American communities today. At 12:30 p.m., players will be available for photos and autographs with fans. This event is included with Museum admission.

Fiedler’s office visits Whitman Library – From 2-4 p.m., a representative from Elizabeth Fiedler’s office will visit to assist with car registrations, unemployment compensation problems, birth certificate applications, income tax problems, consumer complaints and more.

Neumann-Goretti Softball Beef & Beer – From 7-11 p.m. at the high school, 1736 S. 10th St. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Proceeds support the high school softball team. Email ngsaintssoftball@gmail.com.

Imagined Futures Exhibition – From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Liberty Museum. A pay-as-you-wish admission event with activities suitable for all ages, including sketching challenges, seek-and-finds, sand art stations and your own chance to write a message to your future self.

42nd annual CultureFest – Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Penn Museum during a family-friendly festival designed for everyone to learn more about diverse cultural traditions. Live music and dance performances, storytelling, art-making for all ages and a marketplace filled with vendors. It culminates with a grand finale — a traditional Lion Dance.

Lunar New Year activities are included with Museum admission. Children ages 5 and under, teachers, U.S. military veterans with identification, as well as Penn Museum members visit for free.

Free At-Home COVID Tests – from 2-4 p.m. at Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave., free at-home COVID-19 tests. No insurance or ID required.

The Jazz Sanctuary Quintet – At 7:30 p.m., an evening of “Jazz & Joe” at Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Episcopal Church in Queen Village at 8 Christian St. It is a two-hour free concert. Additional information is available at http://www.thejazzsanctuary.com.

Pea Soup Dinner – At 6 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum, take part in the tradition of the annual Pea Soup Supper hosted by The Men’s Pea Soup Committee. Ärtsoppa is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates to medieval times. Dinner is served with sharp Swedish cheese, bread, dessert and coffee. There is also a cash bar. Tickets are $25 for museum members and $30 for non-members. Reservations are necessary. Registration ends Jan. 25. The Future of True Love – From 6-9 p.m. at the National Liberty Museum. Celebrate love in all its forms, from romance to self-care, in an evening dedicated to this eternal pursuit of happiness, as inspired by exhibitions Imagined Futures and truth*. Singles, couples, “situationships” and all others are invited for signature cocktails, interactive experiences, presentations that dive into the depths of the search for love and more. $15 for general admission, $10 for members.

The Jersey Tenors – At 8 p.m. at the Event Center at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, 900 Packer Ave, the opera/rock mash-up sensation. Stray Cat Relief Bingo Night – at EOM at 144 Moore St. from 7-11 p.m.

Beyond Wakanda – Imagining the Future with Black Comic Creators – from noon to 5 p.m. at the National Liberty Museum. Superhero media inspired by Marvel’s Black Panther, DC’s Cyborg and a vibrant scene of independent creators put forth powerful visions of futuristic heroes shaped by black identity. NLM teams up with the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention for a day of all-ages programming highlighting glimpses of the future that bring out the hero in all of us. Free with museum admission, advanced registration encouraged.

SZA in concert – At the Wells Fargo Center, music trendsetter and icon SZA will embark on a highly anticipated arena tour this spring with support from Grammy-nominated best new artist Omar Apollo. Tickets on sale at szasos.com.
