Christmas will come to South Philly a little early this year.

Comcast Spectacor announced that it will bring the “Tinseltown Holiday Spectacular presented by Dietz & Watson,” to FDR Park this winter.

The one-of-a-kind winter wonderland experience, will open its doors in the spacious South Philly park on November 17 and will run through January. Tinseltown was held last year at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center fairgrounds in Oaks, Montgomery County.

“We are thrilled to be working with FDR Park to bring the magic of Tinseltown to South Philly this holiday season,” said Todd Glickman, Chief Revenue Officer, Comcast Spectacor. “With its spectacular light displays, special holiday experiences, festive treats and more, visitors to Tinseltown are sure to walk away with priceless memories and a new holiday tradition. Bringing this signature event to FDR Park is also particularly exciting as we continue working with our neighbors and partners to revitalize South Philly.”

With the beauty and magic of FDR Park as its backdrop, Tinseltown will bring breathtaking light sculptures and displays illuminated by more than 1.2 million light bulbs.

A brand new layout will treat guests to an illuminated wonderland in the park as they will find larger-than-life sculptures, including a 60-ft light tunnel, glowing baubles, and, of course, Santa’s sleigh.

Tinseltown will also showcase some of Philadelphia’s most beloved landmarks and personalities in lights. Along the way, you can spot a massive, walk-through Liberty Bell, illuminations representing Philly sports teams, and many more holiday-inspired surprises.

Visitors of all ages will feel the magic of the holiday season as they stroll through a spectacle of lights, check off their holiday shopping list, dine on festive treats and beverages, meet Santa Claus, and much more. Along with the new location, Tinseltown will feature brand-new experiences sure to impress both new and returning guests.

“The City of Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome Tinseltown to the City, and in doing so spread the magic of the holiday season down Broad Street to FDR Park,” said Sheila Hess, City Representative. “As a lifelong South Philadelphian and frequent visitor to “The Lakes”, I am excited to see Tinseltown attract visitors from all over the region to enjoy the light spectacular planned for FDR Park this holiday season.”

Tickets for Tinseltown go on sale on September 22 on TinseltownHoliday.com. More details about tickets and new experiences will be released in the coming months and residents can visit the website to stay up to date as more information pours in. But it’s never too early to get excited for the holiday season.

“As one of our city’s most diverse, culturally vibrant public spaces, FDR Park is the perfect place to make memories and gather with loved ones,” said Orlando Rendon, Interim Commissioner, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. “We are excited to experience the holiday magic of Tinseltown at The Lakes this winter, and to welcome first time visitors to Philadelphia’s only-Olmsted designed park.”
