Jobs for Americans first
As the Buy American Made Campaign focuses on Jobs for Americans first, our positive message continues to unite people all over the United States.
Americans agree that with all the new products being invented on a regular basis, there are endless opportunities to manufacture products in the United States that would expand the need for new quality jobs and job skills.
We all know that the global market is here to stay and that American workers must be a growing part of the global economy. In order for more companies to grow their product lines in the United States, it is important for America’s consumers to direct as much of their buying power toward the items produced by American-based businesses that employ American workers from the point of production to the point of sale.
Everyone is asked to support America’s local businesses throughout the year and during the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every month, which is promoted as “National Small Business Weekend.” This is another opportunity for America’s consumers to support local small businesses that help employ more than 60 million Americans.

Thanks for your participation and for spreading the word about the Buy American Made Campaign and all efforts that promote American-made products and American workers.

Halloween fun is coming
Kudos to reporter Mark Zimmaro for his very detailed article inviting readers to two coming South Street Halloween events, PumpkinFest and Costume Crawl & Bar Bash (“Halloween season on South Street,” Sept. 20).
At PumpkinFest, there will be a large variety of family-friendly Halloween based activities from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. They will include arts and crafts and delicious bites to eat.
The report then describes a more adult list of events starting at 7 p.m. on Halloween evening, Oct. 31. They include a first-ever costume contest and descriptions of all night long “spooky specials” at the many South Street bars, restaurants, stores and boutiques.
The report concludes with encouraging the advance purchase of Halloween costumes on South Street. Sounds exciting!

Crime should be top priority
For the near future of the Philadelphia Police Department, hopefully First Deputy John M. Stanford as the interim police commissioner can put some dent into lowering the crime plus gun violence happening in our city until the next permanent commissioner comes aboard.
Additionally, the next mayor, whether it be Cherelle Parker or David Oh, can also put a real push to ending the gun violence crisis and lowering the crime rate. That should be their top priority when first taking office.
Philadelphia, along with other major cities, needs a substantial amount of reform. The violence in our city needs to stop severely and we need a very powerful police force along with political leaders to try to put an end to it.
