Rising Voices 2 Opening Reception – from 5-8 p.m. at Studio Incamminati on the 7th floor of the Bok Building, 1901 S. 9th St., over 40 realist paintings by some of the nation’s most promising women artists.

The exhibition features the finalists for the 2021 Bennett Prize, a major national competition for women realist painters, and a solo exhibition of the work of Aneka Ingold, winner of the 2019 Bennett Prize.

One of the nation’s top ateliers for contemporary realist painting, the faculty of Studio Incamminati teach the skills that unlock figurative realist art’s capacity to tell stories and to address the human condition in all its complexity.

This free exhibition presents a special opportunity for the young women of Philadelphia to take inspiration from a cast of talented female role models. The exhibition will be on view at Studio Incamminati through May 14.

Discussion on Barbary Coast Pirates – At 10 a.m. at the Independence Seaport Museum, 211 S. Columbus Blvd., learn about the day the U.S. frigate Philadelphia ran aground in uncharted waters at Tripoli Harbor in 1803, leading to the capture of 307 American sailors for 19 months by the brutal Barbary Coast pirates.

General admission is $18, which gets you into the lecture, the full run of the museum and into the Olympia, the cruiser that is the oldest floating steel ship in the world. Seniors pay $14. Members of the Independence Seaport Museum and Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum are free. Spring Cleanup – from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Stephen Girard Park, meet at the farmhouse by the welcome table. Community service letters to all who need hours. Weed and refresh the Entrance Gardens, bag leaves, gather branches, plant bulbs, pick up trash and lots more. Refreshments will be on hand for extra energy.

Egg Hunt at FDR – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the 20th Street entrance at FDR Park, free face painting, candy, photos with the Easter Bunny, food, fun and more.

Easter in the Park – From 1-3 p.m. at Stephen Girard Park, hosted by the Girard Estate Neighbors Association, an Easter egg hunt, music and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Guided sunset kayak at FDR – At 6:30 pm., take a guided sunset kayak at FDR Park. As the only park with publicly accessible lakes and an active boating program, FDR is the perfect spot to get back out on the water after a long winter. At this monthly program, Fairmount Park Conservancy partners with experienced guides from Discovery Pathways who teach about the lakes’ history and wildlife as we kayak under the glow of the setting sun.

Summit on Philly’s Refinery Redevelopment – From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Audenried High School, 3301 Tasker St., a citywide summit on Philly’s refinery redevelopment, featuring more than a dozen interactive workshops, panels and community visioning sessions. Learn about the many issues this historic redevelopment touches — from the cleanup of the refinery land, flood-prevention plans and risks of warehousing to winning jobs for longtime residents and possibilities for community reinvestment. Youth Football Day – From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FDR Park Boathouse Lawn, Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and local leaders will celebrate Philadelphia’s youth football community with a free, family-friendly event featuring football activities for children, kayak tours, food, face painting, balloon artist and music. The public is invited to participate in this free, fun day. A brief speaking program will highlight the FDR Park Plan, which features high-quality athletic fields and courts interspersed with nature trails, woodlands, meadows and creeks. Sandy Sprint Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk – at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the event will include the 5K Run/Walk, a Survivor Ceremony and live performances. All participants must pre-register. Registration fees are $40 for adults and $30 for children under 12. The Sandy Sprint supports women currently battling ovarian cancer, honors those who are survivors and raises funds to prevent future diagnoses.

Rita Rudner at Live! – Comedian, actor and best-selling author Rita Rudner is making her debut at the Event Center at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. Rudner is known for her hilarious and epigrammatic one-liners. She’s won Las Vegas’ Comedian of the Year nine years in a row and received the Casino Entertainment Legend Award in October 2017.

SPHS Class of ‘63 Reunion – The South Philadelphia High School Class of 1963 (January-June) will hold its 60th reunion from 1-4 p.m. at Adelphia Restaurant, 1750 Clements Bridge Road, Deptford, New Jersey. Tickets are $60 and include a buffet luncheon with a cash bar. 3ICE North American Tour – At 1 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center, the exhilarating, fast-paced, family-affordable, three-on-three professional North American ice hockey league makes a stop in South Philly. Each stop on the tour features four of the eight league teams, comprised of professional ice hockey players competing in three-on-three format for two eight-minute periods with a running clock. The single-elimination format includes two first-round games, a consolation match and a title game, for a total of four games each night. Individual tickets on sale at wellsfargocenterphilly.com.
