A teen whacked a woman in the head and threatened to shoot her in an attempted robbery in Marconi Plaza Friday.

A 44-year-old woman was sitting on a park bench near 15th Street and Moyamensing Avenue chatting on her cell phone at 8:55 p.m. when the youngster walked up behind her and punched her in the back of the head, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He then demanded her cell and threatened to shoot although he did not display a gun.

The woman fled the park with her phone still in her possession and called the police, Tolliver said. She did not seek medical treatment.

The juvenile was described as a black male with a dark complexion, age 16 to 18, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, thin, with no facial hair and wearing a blue shirt and black basketball shorts.
