A man who allegedly mugged an elderly woman at Girard Estate supermarket was nabbed in West Passyunk.
An 87-year-old attempted to get a cart at ShopRite, 2301 Oregon Ave., when Warren Green, 52, of the 2100 block of Opal Street, allegedly pushed her down and snatched her pocketbook that contained $50, a pair of glasses and a wallet before fleeing on foot, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.
The woman was treated at Methodist Hospital for scrapes to her left forearm and elbow, Tolliver said.
Police spotted Green sweating as he was about to enter his home, Tolliver said.
Police did not recover the purse, but arrested Green charged him with simple assault, robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and recklessly endangering another person.
