The Citizens Crime Commission is offering a reward leading to the person responsible for a Whitman woman’s murder.

""Police located Iris Tyson’s body in an abandoned Point Breeze lot a week after her parents reported her missing from their home.

The commission will offer a $2,000 reward for information leading to the person or persons responsible for her death.

The 23-year-old’s parents reported her missing from their home on the 2300 block of South American Street at 6:18 p.m. May 8 — about six hours after she had left their residence to get a Mother’s Day gift, according to police. A week later at 7:08 a.m., police discovered her body in the Newbold/Point Breeze area on the 1100 block of South Sydenham Street. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide due to blunt force trauma to her head and believed she was killed within 24 hours of locating her body.
