Mysterious Death of Woman Found Partially Dressed on Patio in South Philly Under Police Investigation

On Sunday evening, September 29, a woman in her 30s was found unresponsive on a patio in South Philadelphia.

Around 6:32 p.m., police received a call and arrived at a home on the 1800 block of South 22nd Street.

The homeowner had found the woman lying face down on their back patio when they went outside to take out the trash.

According to reports, she was partially dressed and not moving.

Medics quickly arrived but, unfortunately, pronounced her dead at 6:42 p.m.

There were no apparent signs of trauma on her body, meaning there were no visible injuries like cuts or bruises that could explain what happened.

Additionally, there was no drug paraphernalia—such as needles or other items typically related to drug use—found near her, which made it harder for investigators to immediately understand how she had died.

The woman’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office so an autopsy could be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

So far, police have stated that they are treating her death as suspicious until they get more information from the autopsy.

Inspector D.F. Pace, who is part of the investigation, mentioned the fact the woman was partially dressed raises more questions about the situation.

Based on their early observations, police believe she might have been dead for about 24 hours before she was found.

Investigators are also investigating whether she lived nearby, as they believe she could have lived on the same block where she was discovered.

Right now, police are working to figure out how she ended up on the patio and what caused her death.

Thus, they ask anyone with information about the situation to call the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS.

As the investigation continues, more details will hopefully come to light, and we will hopefully get answers to the many questions surrounding this incident.

For now, the cause of her death remains unknown, and police are working to connect all the pieces of the puzzle.
